Hiring Process
We are excited that you're interested in joining the Town of Clayton team. Our employees are the heart of our organization, helping us deliver high-quality services to the community each day. Below is an overview of what to expect during our hiring process.
All applications must be submitted through our Careers Portal. Be sure to:
Complete all required sections of the application.
Attach any necessary documentation such as resumes, certifications, or cover letters.
Review the job description carefully to ensure your experience aligns with the qualifications.
Once the posting closes, the hiring committee will:
Review submitted applications to ensure minimum qualifications are met.
Notify candidates selected to move forward in the process.
Please note that only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
If selected, candidates will be contacted to participate in one or more interviews. This may include:
Phone interviews
In-person interviews with a panel
Practical or skills-based assessments (when applicable)
Interviews are designed to evaluate your qualifications and experience.
Candidates chosen for hire will receive a conditional offer of employment, and proceed with the required pre-employment where applicable:
- Drug and Alcohol screening
- Background check
- Applicants may be subject to a criminal background check
- Credit, motor checks are required for some administrative, finance and operational positions
Once all conditions are met:
- Pre-boarding documents will be emailed to the candidate to finish prior to start date.
- Once HR has confirmed all required documents, the new employee will receive details about first-day expectations, reporting instructions, and new hire orientation.
