Automatic Rolls of NC Pledges $50,000 to Celebration Playground Capital Campaign

05/22/2015

Automatic Rolls of North Carolina, a major employer in Clayton, has pledged $50,000 to the capital campaign for the Celebration Playground - the area's first universal playground.

Celebration Playground will provide an opportunity for all children of all abilities to play together, as well as for parents or caregivers who may have mobility challenges.  Designed by CLH Design, P.A., of Cary, the playground will be part of the East Clayton Community Park on Glen Laurel Road.

“We view Celebration Playground as a significant new amenity for all the citizens of Clayton and Johnston County, as well as the families of our employees,” said Richard Tommy, plant manager of Automatic Rolls. “It’s another reason for us all to feel great about living and working in Clayton.”

The new playground is a public-private partnership between the Town of Clayton and the Clayton Community Recreational Foundation, Inc.

Jean Sandaire, chairman of the Foundation’s Finance Committee, praised Automatic Rolls for its strong community involvement. “This is a huge step forward in our $600,000 campaign to fund the Celebration Playground,” said Sandaire upon learning of the pledge.

Automatic Rolls of North Carolina is a division of Maryland-based Northeast Foods – a key supplier to the McDonald’s restaurant chain since 1965. The Clayton bakery specializes in baking soft sandwich rolls for McDonald’s in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Previously announced corporate contributors include 11 regional Walmart and Sam’s Club locations (including Walmart of Clayton), Sheetz, Inc., the Archway Foundation and the Caterpillar Building Construction Products division.

More information is available at the playground’s Facebook site, Clayton’s Celebration Playground at East Clayton Community Park.
