Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

Clayton Halloween Activities for 2020

We’re going to miss our annual Clayton Parks and Recreation Halloween activities. The traditional Downtown Trick or Treat along Main Street and the Youth Council sponsored hayrides at Community Park have been canceled because of COVID-19 concerns.

BUT, we have alternatives for children and adults alike to enjoy:

The Parks and Rec Halloween decorations have escaped and are hanging out in trees around town! Find all six -- a ghost, a gravestone, a bat, a witch’s hat, a stack of three pumpkins, and some yummy candy corn -- in playgrounds and along walking trails at our parks and at Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library. Halloween prizes are available for anyone who shares photos of all six of the decorations by October 31.

Cooper Academy: A College Prep Elementary School students are painting storybook-inspired pumpkins to display in the windows of Downtown Clayton, NC businesses. Photos of the pumpkins will be added to an album on the Downtown Clayton, NC Facebook Page, and you get to vote for your favorites by 'liking' the photos on Facebook You can also win a prize by visiting the downtown storefronts to take photos of the pumpkins. Take your picture with at least 10 of the decorated pumpkins and share it with us for a Halloween prize bag. Pictures can be sent to the Downtown Clayton, NC Facebook Page or posted using the hashtags #ClaytonHalloween #ClaytonPumpkins

Remember that the Town of Clayton has never set specific times or dates for trick-or-treating, but we do want families to make sure their children trick-or-treat safely and this year, consider some alternative Halloween ideas to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
