Saturday: Christmas Parade (New Route), Santa's Workshop, Holiday Farmer's Market and Holiday Piano Concert

Clayton's got such a variety of holiday events going on Saturday, there's no excuse to be Scrooge this weekend!

You'll want to be downtown at 3 p.m. for the Clayton Rotary Christmas Parade – a holiday tradition with a new route that promises to double the excitement and double the viewing opportunities for spectators! Rather than running west down Main Street from U.S. 70 Business, this year's parade will start and end at Clayton High School, heading east down Main Street and making a loop through Downtown Clayton. Follow the event on Facebook for updates. Streets will be closed from 2 p.m. until a little after 5 p.m.

Looking to get your Christmas list to Saint Nick? From 10 a.m. to noon, swing by Santa's Workshop at the Clayton Community Center, 715 Amelia Church Road. Join our Parks & Rec staff for crafts, snacks and pictures with Santa. Just bring two canned goods per child to be donate to Clayton Area Ministries food bank.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., grab some groceries and knock out some holiday shopping in Horne Square at a special holiday Clayton Farm and Community Market. In addition to the usual seasonal produce, meats and honey, vendors will have a variety of holiday crafts for sale. Here's a full rundown.

Cap the evening off with a performance by Jeffrey Biegel at the 2nd Annual Clayton Piano Festival Holiday Gala at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Event Center, 501 Yates Drive. Biegel will treat audiences to Holiday favorites from both the classical and popular repertoire – including his own virtuosic arrangements of Christmas carols and music from popular American movies and television – in addition to both little known gems and timeless masterworks from the classical repertoire. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for kids 18 and under.

Biegel is a former teacher of Jonathan Levin – our hometown pianist who has played Carnegie Hall and brings the music back home each year with the Clayton Piano Festival, which receives support from the Town of Clayton Cultural Arts Grant program.
