Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

O'Neil Street Blocked Tomorrow - Look for Detours!

O’Neil Street will be CLOSED tomorrow (Thursday, May 10th) coming in and out of Downtown Clayton from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Starmount Rd. for utility work. They’ll be detours around the work area.

That means those who live on Starmount Rd., Edgewater Dr., Gordon St. and Lake Dr. will NOT be able to come and go out of the neighborhood on N. O’Neil Street.

Drivers can detour around the closure by using Ridgecrest Drive via Gordon Street, which will take you to Barnes Street and out to O'Neil Street.  It is a gravel road in portions, but it will allow you to avoid the work going on at O’Neil & Starmount. We’ll work with emergency services to get access should response be needed.

Drivers on O’Neil will also need to take detour down Fayetteville Street using Hinton or Wilson Streets. It’s short detour to get back onto O’Neil.

We apologize for this very inconvenient road closure and thank you for your patience as Town of Clayton crews can quickly and safely complete this utility work.

If you have any questions, concerns or complaints please call or email me, Stacy Beard, the Public Information Officer. I can be reached any time at 919-358-0348 or
