Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

Clayton Fire Department to Carry Easter Bunny through Response Area

04/09/2020

We had an amazing experience! Thank you to the Clayton Community for your wonderful response!

Clayton Parks and Recreation had the BEST idea and we have been planning it out for days to make sure we can do it and do it safely! Every year on Good Friday is our proud tradition - our fire engine carries the Easter Bunny into Clayton Community Park for our annual and beloved Egg Hunt with hundreds of kids. Sadly, it's had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 restrictions and we understand! But what do you think about what our parks team suggested: WE just take the Easter Bunny TO YOU instead!!

For FOUR day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) the Easter Bunny will ride in our Clayton Fire Department rescue truck throughout our entire fire response area, trying to reach as many possible streets as possible. The Easter Bunny will sound the sirens and honk the horn and wave to any and all who want to come outside in their yards and say hello. The bunny can't throw candy and can't stop for photos, but we can still be a proud escort to help spread some smiles and good memories. PLEASE NOTE: If you live on a cul-de-sac or dead-end road, our truck will not be able to turn around, so please come up to the closest intersection to see the Bunny, but PLEASE keep your physical distance from other families! (We come down dead-end and cul-de-sacs during emergencies, of course, but we have to back all the way up to get out and we can't do that in this instance - thanks for your understanding!)

We were going to just do the town limits, but we're going to go to our entire emergency response area - which is a much wider area of Clayton, but not all Clayton addresses. Of course, we're still responding to emergencies and answering calls so we might have to whisk away with the Easter Bunny and hopefully come back later. We'll definitely do the best we can, but may not be able to go down into cul-de-sacs and turn around in our trucks - but we'll try our best!

Everything colored within in THIS MAP is our response coverage area - see if you can find your street if you're not sure if the Clayton Fire Department serves your home.

The schedule below is an estimate of our four-day route. We have taken time to carefully plan out these routes for best coverage. It's actually really good training for our team to get out into the community and explore the neighborhoods we serve. We will do our best to keep you updated on the Easter Bunny's location on the Clayton Fire Department Facebook page, but we encourage you to listen for the sirens.

We'll have a morning run from around 9:30-10 a.m. to noon and then an afternoon run from around 1-1:30 to 3 or so.
