Town of Clayton Offices Closed Wednesday In Observance Of Veterans Day

All Town of Clayton offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. This includes our Utilities and Billing Department, Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library and Parks and Recreation. All Star Waste will run garbage, recycling and yard waste routes on a normal schedule.

Emergency police, fire and rescue services may be reached by calling 9-1-1.

You can take some time on this special day to honor those who have served our country. Check out these two virtual opportunities.

Johnston County Public Schools has been celebrating our veterans with a special ceremony for the past 15 years. And, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, this year is no different. The student-led event – a collaboration between the Smithfield Selma High School JROTC cadets, All-County Chorus and All-County Band – takes place virtually beginning at 11 a.m.

A link to the ceremony will be available at the JCPS Facebook page, In addition, veterans will be treated to a meal following the online celebration. Johnston County veterans are invited to Smithfield-Selma High for a curbside meal from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be a small in-person celebration at the school, and veterans will be given the 2020 commemorative event pin. For more information, visit the JCPS Veterans Day page on their website.
