Emergency Water Outage Monday Dec. 17

Emergency Water Line Repair MONDAY, DEC. 17th
LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY on MAIN STREET from Fayetteville to Barbour
3-hour water outage for some businesses

There is a significant water leak right at the corner of Main & Church streets near Nancy Jo's Homemade and our utility crews have scheduled a contract crew to come first thing Monday morning to make the fix.

The work will require blocking two blocks of Main Street from Fayetteville to Barbour streets and only allowing LOCAL TRAFFIC from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m on Monday, Dec. 17.  There will be a complete closure of Main Street directly around the intersection of Main and Church streets. Thru traffic will need to detour down Barbour Street to E. 2nd Street and back to Fayetteville.

Businesses in this two block section of Main Street from Fayetteville to Lombard will have to lose water for about 3 hours on Monday so the repair can be safely made. The shut-off could happen as early as 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Town crews will be working diligently to cause the least interruption to businesses affected. Due to the depth of the utility lines, the work has to be done by a contractor. Crews try to schedule work after hours, but this is the only time we could bring in the contractor.

You may wish to fill a sink or bucket with water so that you have ample water to flush toilets during the 3-hour water outage. Businesses affected include Glen's Barber Shop, Blackley's Printing,  Primo Pizza, Revival 1869, Classy Stitches, Three Little Birds, Brick & Mortar, Right Angles, Clayton Mart, Clayton Chiropractic, Nancy Jo's, Studio Bleu, Pizazz, Sherry's Cheesecakes, and United Community Bank. If you have any questions about any other Town-related issues, please feel free to email Public Information Officer Stacy Beard or call her at 919-358-0348.
