Church Services in Clayton during COVID Stay-at-Home Order

In these difficult times, people in the Clayton community need to hear from our faith leaders.

But many of our residents have concerns about how to worship, wondering if church services can even continue under the Governor’s Stay at Home Order.

The Town of Clayton and the Clayton Police Department would like everyone to know that we are hear as a resource should you have questions and we'd like to work with area churches to help you find ways to hold worship and prayer services.

Here is the current guidance:

  • Indoor services must NOT include groups of more than 10 people and social distancing MUST be maintained.
  • Outdoor services are the same as indoor services.
  • “Drive-in” services are allowed so long as people stay in their vehicles and are parked with sufficient distance between vehicles

Governor Roy Cooper signed Executive Order 121, effective 5 p.m. March 30, that allows individuals to attend their places of worship if they follow the mass gathering ban and do not have more than 10 people assembled. (View frequently asked questions.) Again, social distancing should be practiced.

If you would like to discuss more specifics about your services with Police Chief Blair Myhand, please email info@TownofClaytonNC.org and share your phone number. He will be happy to call you and work with you.
