Town Hall parking lot expansion project to close section of E. Horne Street

A portion of E. Horne Street in downtown Clayton will close permanently on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as a project to expand the Town Hall and The Clayton Center parking lot begins.

The project will close Horne Street from the intersection at Fayetteville Street to just beyond the current entrance to the Town Hall parking lot.

The expansion, which will more than double the number of parking spaces available at Town Hall and The Clayton Center, is expected to last three to four months. The new parking lot will accommodate 110 parking spaces compared to the current 41 spaces available for employees and visitors. The additional parking will also be available to Horne Memorial Methodist Church, the Clayton Library and Town Square events during peak times of need.

Town Council approved the project last year. The bid for the expansion was awarded to Daniels, Inc., at the Oct. 5, 2020, Council meeting.
