Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

What’s in your medicine cabinet?

If it’s unused or expired medications – either prescription or over the counter – the Clayton Police Department can help you dispose of them safely.

All you need to do is stop by the Clayton Law Enforcement Center at 315 E. Second Street and drop the medications in the drug disposal box located in the lobby. There are noo questions asked and no paper work to complete. Our lobby is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

This free program was started on July 1, 2012, when the Clayton Rotary Clubs generously offered to pay for the collection box. The program was immediately popular and in the first year, CPD collected more than 140 pounds of medications.

Although legally prescribed drugs serve a useful medical purpose, they can be deadly if they are misused.

The disposal box helps make the community safer, prevents the potential misuse of these drugs, and protects the environment. The prescription drop off box located at the CPD was made possible by the Clayton Rotary Club.

Note that syringes and liquids are not accepted in the drug disposal box.
