Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

The Clayton Police Department has been very fortunate to have the services of Dr. Alvin Thompson, Sr. available to us.

Dr. Alvin Thompson, Sr. is a recognized leader in the community and an individual who possesses a genuine concern for Clayton and the citizens that the Department serves.

Dr. Thompson leads the New Trinity Missionary Baptist Church located at the corner of Second and Robinson Streets and has done so since 1994. Dr. Thompson spent four years in the United States Marine Corps before turning his attention toward ministry. Dr. Thompson possesses a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, a Masters in Pastoral Counseling, a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling, and is currently working on his Masters in Social Work.

Dr. Thompson has assisted the department in sensitive matters when victims or other involved parties have not had access to clergy. He has taken his personal time and spent it with officers on patrol and has also been a great comfort to our officers in times of stress and hardship over the years.

Dr. Thompson has been instrumental in assisting the police department in its youth outreach programs. He and New Trinity have been very supportive of the Police Community Partnership and have helped us facilitate opportunities to educate youth and form lasting friendships with them. This is evidenced by the participation of the police department in the “Day-Camp”, Toy Drive, and fundraising activities. The department has also assisted New Trinity in its Thanksgiving food basket program.
