Hello Clayton!

This fall has been a whirlwind!  In October, we hosted the Clayton Community Recreational Foundation’s groundbreaking for Harmony Playground presented by Caterpillar.  Less than a month later, on the heels of the nearly weeklong Halloween and Harvest Festival events, passed the Parks and Recreation Bond with more than 74% voter approval. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, myself and your entire Parks and Recreation team could not be more excited about the projects that are now possible with the passage of the bond referendum.

We are not taking the voters’ mandate for granted and will be rolling up our sleeves to plan and build parks and amenities that exceed your expectations.  Although the ideas and types of improvements are clear:  better and new athletic fields for longer seasons, sports lighting for more play, new playgrounds, a splash pad, and more indoor space; the details still need to be hammered out.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will act as the steering committee to guide staff, planners and partners to put the ideas into construction drawings that can be built. This gives you a great opportunity to be involved and have a larger voice.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets on the second Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Clayton Community Center.  All are welcome at these public meetings.  Stay tuned for additional planning meetings in February and March.

Thank you to the voters and citizens of the Town Clayton for entrusting us with the future of your parks by supporting the referendum. We are accountable to you and take that as seriously as we do the business of play!  We welcome your input any way you’d like to provide it….social media, email, phone or in person.
