Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

The Town of Clayton and the Downtown Development Association is excited to present Square-to-Square, a brand new street festival to celebrate Independence Day!

Join us on Main Street from Town Square to Horne Square for games, activities, contest, and so much more!

  • Activities will kick off at 11am with a Bicycle Parade sponsored by HTR: Hometowne Realty. The Bicycle Parade is open to children of all ages. No registration is required for this event. We encourage kids to decorate their bike, scooter, or wagon and meet us ready-to-ride at Horne Square no later than 10:45 a.m. on July 3. The parade will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. It will conclude under an extravagant balloon arch in Town Square, where participants will also receive a small American Flag keepsake.
  • The Clayton Chamber of Commerce will be giving out FREE Snow Cones from 11:30am until they run out.
  • Lee's Produce is sponsoring FREE Watermelon starting at noon.
  • The Hula Hoop Contest will be held at the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library. The contest is open for kids ages 5-12. Sign up is FREE on the day of. We’ll be running the hula contest every 10 minutes from 1-2. We’ll ask for participants to show up by between 12:30pm-12:50pm and will have a short form for them to fill out (Name, age, parent’s contact number, etc.)The winner for each 10 minutes gets a gift certificate. The overall winner gets a fancy hula hoop!
  • There will be a Hot Dog Eating Contest at the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library. The competition is open to ages 13+ and will begin at noon on July 3. The entry fee is $5 and preregistration is encouraged. For full details visit bit.ly/S2SHOTDOGS.
  • Ragland Productions Inc will be on site with their Trackless Train, rock climbing wall, waterslides, mini golf, and more!... And the best part: ALL the rides are FREE.
  • Several Food Trucks on Main Street - including:
  • The Clayton Farm and Community Market will be set up in Horne Square.
  • There will be games and activities with the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department such as a Bubble Station, Football Toss, and Disc Golf.
  • Meet the Poetry Fox, sponsored by the Clayton Cultural Arts Foundation. He writes you a custom poem on-the-spot on his vintage typewriter...and he's a giant fox. Give him a word, get a poem. with the Clayton Cultural Arts Foundation.
  • Also at the event will be a Stilt Walker, Face Painter, and Balloon Twister.
  • Princesses Rapunzel and Ariel will even be on Main Street from 12pm-2pm.
  • The festival will conclude with a Fire Truck Parade down Main Street at 2:45pm.
