Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns, the 37th Annual Clayton Road Race
has been CANCELED.

If you've already registered, we will be reaching out to process refunds. Please contact Lauren Lambert with Clayton Parks & Recreation

Each year hundreds of people compete in one of the Triangle’s longest-running road races! For almost four decades, the annual Clayton Road Race has brought out everyone from 7-year-olds to 70-year-olds to enjoy a scenic and challenging 5K through Downtown Clayton! Both runners and walkers are encouraged to participate.

The race starts AND finishes on Second Street in front of The Clayton Center.

TOT TROT: Would your little one love a race bid and a ribbon of their own? We also host a 0.1-mile tot trot! Kids ages 6 and under run two city blocks along Second Street and through the finish line!

On race day, register and pick up your timing chip and T-shirt from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. at The Clayton Center, 111 East Second Street in Downtown Clayton. Parking is available in lots at The Clayton Center, as well as Clayton High School and anywhere you can find a spot along our downtown streets. Please note that if you park in any lots that open into the race route, you will not be able to leave until the road reopens, which could be as late as 11:00 a.m.

Racers are timed by chips that start counting when YOU cross the starting line. Awards will be given to top finishers in different age groups, and water is available at the half-way mark. In the past, the top three finishers in each age group received a hand-made Clayton Road Race mug, crafted in our very own pottery studio at the Clayton Community Center.
