Congrats to everyone who participated in the 34th Annual Clayton 5K Road Race today! Awesome run by Shan Guo of Cary with his winning time of 18:01! Three seconds behind him was 14-year-old Zachary Clark of Garner and coming in 3rd overall with a time of 18:42 was 17-year-old Andrew Amaya of Clayton.

Finishing first for the females was Lori Ligouri of California with 21:48. Right behind her at 21:52 was Susan Brosnan, followed by 18-year-old Rachel Strickland of Clayton with 21:56!

We had an 8-year-old AND a 74-year-old bound across the finish line! Special thanks to the Clayton Police Department and the residents of Downtown Clayton for helping us hold this community tradition! More pics to come!

36th Annual Clayton Road Race –  5K, Health Walk and Tot Trot on May 11, 2019

Have you ever wanted to run through the scenic streets of Downtown Clayton? Now’s your chance! REGISTER STARTING MONDAY, FEB 4!

The 36th Annual Clayton Road Race is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 complete with a chip-timed, 5K race for runners ages 7 and up – a 5K health walk for those who just want to get outside and enjoy our beautiful Town – and a 0.1 tot trot for the little ones!

Join the hundreds of people who compete each year in one of the Triangle’s longest-running road races!  For more than three decades, the annual Clayton Road Race has brought out everyone from 7-year-olds to 70-year-olds to enjoy a scenic and challenging 5K through Downtown Clayton! Both runners and walkers are encouraged to participate. Help us celebrate the Town of Clayton's 150th anniversary as a town by joining us for this beloved tradition!

NEW COURSE FOR 2019! We are excited to announce that for the first time ever, the Road Race will start AND finish on Second Street in front of The Clayton Center.

TRAINING: Always wanted to run a 5K but don’t know where to start? Need the motivation to get back into running? Intimidated by the challenging reputation of our downtown course? Don't worry - we'll train you HOW to train! Local runner Jennifer Hamilton has designed a 10-week training program to prepare you. It's easily tailored to every level, from those fresh off the couch to those looking to meet certain running goals. We'll meet as a group on Tuesday nights at 6 p.m. beginning Feb. 26 through May 7. You'll also have the option to run as a group on Saturday morning during those weeks if you'd like! It's just 80 for Clayton resident and Annual Family Members, $95 for non-residents and it includes your registration for the race on May 11! Click here to register

TOT TROT: Would your little one love a race bid and a ribbon of their own? Sign them up for the 0.1-mile tot trot! Kids ages 6 and under will run two city blocks along Horne Street and through the finish line!

On race day, register and pick up your timing chip and T-shirt from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. at The Clayton Center, 111 East Second Street in Downtown Clayton. Parking is available in lots at The Clayton Center and Town Square, as well as Clayton High School and anywhere you can find a spot along our downtown roads.

Returning for 2019, racers will be timed by chips that start counting when YOU cross the starting line. That provides ultra-accurate timing and split times at one and two miles! Awards will be given to top finishers in different age groups, and water is available at the half-way mark.
