Clayton Parks & Recreation Department Facilities Update


The Clayton Community Center, located at 715 Amelia Church Road, will reopen on March 1 at 8:00 am. We will be operating on a modified schedule, and strict COVID-19 guidelines will be in place to to keep our visitors and staff safe.

The building hours listed below will allow staff to clean during designated times each day. This schedule is designed to protect those in our community who are most vulnerable to COVID-19. 

Visitors of all ages will be required to wear masks when in the facility.

Our indoor walking track area will be limited to a maximum of 10 people at a time and our gym will be limited to 25 people at a time. Games may be played by family groups, or individuals. No pickup style games, and anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Our new game room, which is home to two pool tables, air hockey, foosball, and more, will be open during certain times with a maximum of 10 people allowed. Games may be played by family groups or individuals. No pickup style games, and anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.


  • Shelter Rentals and Special Event Permits (shelter, field and gym) are available. Call 919-553-1550 for availability. Shelters are available for public use on a first come first serve basis. 
  • All park facilities are open: greenways, trails, athletic fields, shelters, playgrounds and restrooms.

  • Staff are routinely cleaning restrooms and playgrounds per CDC and DHHS guidance.
  • Follow ClaytonNCParks on social media for virtual recreation events and updates. 

While staff is cleaning, it's important for everyone to continue to exercise individual responsibility to help prevent the spread. For the most up-to-date COVID-19 information, please check the NC Department of Health website.
