Gated Community for Seniors On The Way

Town officials have cleared the way for a new 51-home gated community for seniors to be built on Vinson Road near the Glen Laurel Subdivision.

The new Planned Use Development, to be called "The Woods at Glen Laurel," will also include an office building and day care center. Developers Thompson-Lee Inc. promise to save as many trees as possible during construction, in keeping with the town's tree preservation program. A wide walking trail is also planned to weave through the area.

Houses on the 31.2-acre tract, intended for those 55-years-of-age and older, will range in cost from $250,000 to $400,000.
