New Water Tower on the Way in East Clayton
Town officials want to build a million-gallon water tower in East Clayton in the vicinity of Fire Station No. 2 that would enhance fire protection in the area and serve as a backup for the town's water supply.
Town Manager Steve Biggs told the Town Council this week that the area has "an insufficient supply" at present and needs the additional capacity.
The town hopes to get a $500,000 USDA-Rural Development grant to pay part of the estimated $3.2 million cost and a low-interest loan from the agency to pay the rest.
