Johnston County Senior Games Underway

The 24th annual Johnston County Senior Games, which features several events in Clayton, are underway.

The Games, which are open to anyone 55-years-of-age or older, include athletic events such as basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, cycling, bowling, bocce, golf, billiards, croquet, spin casting, swimming, tennis and track and field. Arts events include heritage (quilting, knitting, needlework and more), literary (essays, poems, short stories and life experiences), visual (acrylics, drawing, photography and more) and performing (comedy, drama, vocal, dance and instrumental).

"We're happy to be holding a number of events here in Clayton," said Parks & Recreation Director Larry Bailey. "A lot of people from around the County will be visiting Clayton for the games, which should have a positive impact on our local economy."

Events in Clayton include several track & field events at the High School, including a race walk, fun walk, spin casting, football throw, softball throw, long jump, shot put and discus throw: Bocce and cycling at Clayton Community Park and bowling and billiards at Rainbow Lanes.

The games will come to a close April 15.
