Recreation Department Offers New Classes

The Parks & Recreation Department has a series of new classes starting in February and March, including two ongoing fitness classes for residents more than 55-years-of-age.

The classes for seniors are back-to-back on Monday mornings at the Clayton Senior Center. "Senior Toning" is slated for 10 to 10:45 am, then "Senior Chair," for those in wheelchairs or who are unable to stand for long periods of time, from 11 to 11:30 am. Both classes, led by Fitness Instructor Donna Granger, are free.

During the week of Feb. 22, the Department will offer four six-week art classes, each costing $65 for residents and $75 for non-residents. "Adult Basic Drawing" will be held Tuesdays from 10 am to noon, and "Adult Pencil Drawing" Tuesdays from 1 to 2:30 pm. Both are taught by Art Instructor Lynda Wilson on the third floor of the Clayton Center.

"Watercolors" will be taught Mondays from 7-9 pm, and "Acrylics" Tuesdays from 7-9 pm by Art Instructor Lisa Bailey on the third floor of the Clayton Center.

Beginning March 2, Artist John McFadden will be teaching "Calligraphy" for four weeks on Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:45 pm on the third floor of the Clayton Center. The class is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents.

Beginning March 3, Art Instructor Lisa Bailey will lead "After School Art" on the third floor of the Clayton Center. The six-week class will be held from 4:30 to 6 pm on Wednesdays and cost $55 for residents and $65 for non-residents.
