Pottery Class for "Tweens" Begins Feb. 1

A class designed to introduce pottery-making to youngsters is set to begin Tuesday, Feb. 1 at the Clayton Community Center.

"Pottery Sampler for Tweens" is an eight-week class where students ages 9 to 12 can learn various ways to create with clay.

The class "will explore hand-building techniques, decorating and glazing, and an introduction to wheel for those who have always wanted to try it," according to class materials. "Students will be able to continue on with the wheel or explore additional hand-building ideas."

The class will be held Tuesdays 4:30 to 6 pm from Feb. 1 through March 22.

The cost is $65 for residents and Community Center members and $80 for non-residents. The instructor is Lynn Kurisko.
