Youth Theater Offers "Backstage" Workshop
Is your youngster a good candidate for the Clayton Youth Theater? You still have time to find out.
The Theater has scheduled a week-long theater workshop called "Backstage Pass: West Side Story" for first through sixth graders July 18-22 that will introduce them to musical theater as well as give them an opportunity to learn what the Youth Theater is all about. Sessions will be held from 10 am until noon at The Clayton Center.
Each day, participants will focus on multiple aspects of theater, from music, dance and acting to "Theater 101," which each day highlights a different theater element, such as sound and lighting.
Participants will also work with the cast of the Youth Theater's upcoming production of West Side Story, join them for rehearsals, learn some of the music and choreography from the show, get a backstage tour, a ticket to the upcoming production and a CYT t-shirt. They will also get to showcase what they learned during the week in a small performance for their parents.
Tuition is $125 per student, and the registration deadline is Friday, July 8. Space is limited!
For registration information, please visit the Youth Theater website at www.claytonyouththeater.com and click on "Special Events" or call The Clayton Center Box Office at 919-553-1737.
