"West Side Story" Auditions in May

The Clayton Youth Theater will begin auditions in May for its summer musical, West Side Story.

Students interested in auditioning must be in the 7th-12th grade during the 2011-2012 school year.  Class of 2011 high school graduates are also eligible.

Auditions will be held at The Clayton Center on May 13 at 6 p.m. and May 14 at 1 p.m.  Complete audition information can be found on the Youth Theater website at  www.claytonyouththeater.com

Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet” is transported to modern-day New York City in the musical, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks.  Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence, and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Founded by Nikki Dyke in 2007, and adopted by the Clayton Cultural Arts Foundation, the Clayton Youth Theater was established to showcase the talents of area middle school and high school students, while bringing high quality productions to the community.  West Side Story marks CYT’s eighth production.
