County Transportation Plan Gets Support

The Town of Clayton has joined other area municipalities in supporting the new "Johnston County Comprehensive Transportation Plan," which charts new ways to handle the ever-growing amount of vehicle traffic through the County.

The long-range plan recommends several new streets and highways, upgrades to existing highways, new railroad service between towns and even new bicycle lanes and trails.

But, the plan, which charts the area's needs through the next 35 years, isn't expected to lead to any immediate changes.

"It's far in the future and not funded at the present time," said NC Dept. of Transportation Triangle Unit Supervisor Scott Walston.
