Traffic Accident Snarles Traffic Along US 70

A traffic accident on US 70 near the entrance to downtwn Monday afternoon knocked out power for a short time and delayed traffic through town for more than two hours, and periodically through the evening hours.

An automobile slammed into a power pole about 4:30 pm, bringing down power lines. Work crews restored power within minutes, but the accident caused immediate delays along the roadway through town that continued as work crews replaced damaged lines and took care of other damage.

Traffic was backed up at both entrances to town along the US 70 corridor.
