Officer Earns "Advanced" Certification
Sergeant Kevin Pruden, a 15-year police veteran, has earned "Advanced Law Enforcement" certification from the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, the highest such honor awarded by the state.
The honor rewards advanced education, training and experience.
"We're very proud of him," said Chief Glen Allen.
Sergeant Pruden, a member of Squad "C" in the Patrol Division, is the 25th member of the 42-member Police Force to earn the honor. He worked with the Elizabeth City and Smithfield Police Departments before coming to Clayton in 2006. He is currently working on a Criminal Justice degree from Johnston County Community College.
The Commission’s Professional Certificate Program is designed to reward and recognize officers who continually strive to advance professionally through a variety of schools and training sessions, above and beyond what is required by the state.
