Laurie Lee is Top Clayton Center Volunteer
Laurie Lee of Clayton has been named The Clayton Center’s 2009-2010 Scene Stealers Volunteer of the Year.
Lee was honored recently during the Center’s Volunteer Appreciation Dinner sponsored by Outback Steakhouse of Garner.
In presenting the award, Lara Perry, volunteer coordinator for The Clayton Center, said, “It was a delight to present Laurie Lee with the Volunteer of the Year award. She embodies the spirit of volunteerism. Laurie not only made herself available for every occasion, but did so with a willingness to serve in any capacity. Her dedication is remarkable, and she always searches for a way to go above and beyond as she volunteers. Laurie's always there for us, willing to do anything, and she never stops looking for an opportunity to better serve Clayton Center patrons.”
Heidi Stump, executive director, said, “The Scene Stealers volunteers have played a huge role in helping The Clayton Center develop its reputation as a friendly, service-oriented venue. They are fun-loving group whose hard work and dedication contribute greatly to the success of The Palladian Series.”
The Scene Stealers are a group of about 70 local residents who volunteer their time at The Clayton Center during Palladian Series performances and other auditorium events. The volunteers greet patrons, work as ushers and ticket takers, pass out programs and sell concessions during the shows.
In addition to receiving an award of her own, Lee’s name has been engraved on the Scene Stealers perpetual plaque that hangs outside of The Clayton Center box office.
