New Pottery Classes at Community Center
The Pottery Room at the new Community Center will be getting a heavy workout this month as classes of all types, for both youngsters and adults, get underway.
Here's a look at what's coming up:
Roll it and Make it! ~ Adults
April 12 to June 7
MONDAYS 10 am - 1 pm
An introductory class in hand building with clay slabs is designed for all! Learn to make tiles, trays, vases, mirrors, boxes, and more using just a slab roller and rolling pin! You will then learn several exciting surface decorating techniques using simple tools and found objects.

Soft Clay, Soft Hands ~ Adults
April 12 to June 7
MONDAYS 2 – 4 pm
This class is designed as a gentle, easy and clean exploration of clay for seniors. Using a few simple tools, you will learn to make tiles, trays, vases, jars, and more from a slab of clay! Then discover easy decorating techniques using tools, found objects, and painting.

The Art and Science of Clay
April 13 to June 1 TUESDAYS
- 9 to 12 year old home schoolers 9 -11 am
- 13 year olds and up 1 -3 pm
An exciting new program for home schoolers! While playing and creating with clay, you will discover how geology, physics and chemistry are used by clay artists. Explore various handbuilding techniques and the functions of assorted tools. An introduction to the amazing abilities of the potter’s wheel will also be included in this fun learning experience!

Beginning Wheel ~Adults
April 14 to June 2
WEDNESDAYS 10 am -1 pm
Wheel thrown pottery is a great chance to play in the mud! A combined class of demonstrations and individualized instruction will teach the basics skills such as wedging, centering the clay, throwing a cylinder, trimming and glazing techniques to create a variety of vessels. If this is something you always wanted to do, this is your class. No experience required!

Beginning Wheel for Teens
13 – 18 years old
April 14 to June 2
WEDNESDAYS 4 - 7 pm
Have you always wanted to try throwing clay on a potter’s wheel? Now is your chance. Come have fun after school and burn off some energy too! You will learn how to wedge clay, center it on the wheel and how to create simple cylinders and bowls. Techniques such as trimming, decorating and glazing will also be included in this 8 week course. Any experience level welcome.

Advanced Wheel ~Adults
April 15 to June 3
THURSDAYS 6 - 9 pm
Are you an experienced thrower but want to take it to the next level? Then this is the class for you! Through individualized and group instruction, you will learn techniques to improve your throwing, trimming and handling of clay to create beautiful objects. Through the use of the potter’s wheel, hand altering, surface treatments, learn to express your own personal style!

Pottery Sampler for Parent &Child
5 year and up with Adult
April 17 to June 5
SATURDAYS 10 am -Noon
Spend some quality time with your child while creating FUNctional items! You will learn a variety of methods including coil-building, pinch pots, slab work and glazing to create flower pots, trays and wall pockets. Pieces will be finished with basic glazing techniques and fired to a lasting, durable and safe item for everyday use. No experience necessary!

Pottery Sampler ~ Adults
April 15 to June 4
THURSDAYS 10 am -Noon
Let's play in the mud! Come learn and create by using a variety of pottery methods including the pottery wheel, hand building and glazing. No experience necessary!
