Upgrade of All-Star Park Nearly Complete

Work on the upgrade of All-Star Park and Pavilion on Front Street is nearing completion, and town officials hope to have formal dedication ceremonies in late September or early October.

A new "Bungalow Design" pavilion with bathrooms and picnic area at the front of the park is getting some finishing touches, while workmen install playground equipment. Area landscaping and fencing of the playground will come next. Already, the parking area and basketball courts have been upgraded.

"The work is coming along very well," said Deputy Town Manager Nancy Medlin. "The new pavilion is very, very nice, and it has a residential appearance that blends in with the community. We're hoping to see a lot of residents at the dedication ceremonies."

Work on the park, which was originally built in 1983, is being financed through the bond issue for parks and streets approved by voters in 2008.
