Johnny Orr Band at Town Square Thursday
The Johnny Orr Band, who won the Town Square "Battle of the Bands" contest in 2008, will be in town again Thursday, June 16 to perform in the 2011 Clayton Town Square Concert Series.
The group will play from 7 to 9 pm at the Town Square downtown.
Johnny Orr has been a fixture in the Triangle area for a long time, performing since the mid 80′s. He made the finals of Nashville Star, and he’s been on CMT’s Big Break with Sara Evans. In addition, he’s opened for Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, Gretchen Wilson, Phil Vassar, Josh Gracin, Josh Thompson, Jeff Bates, and many more.
This is the fifth year of the hit series, which brought more than 1,100 per show to the downtown area last year.
Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for this free public concert. Several local vendors will provide light refreshments and food. The Clayton Downtown Development Association, the event's organizer, will once again serve beer and wine.
Several downtown restaurants offer pre-concert dinner specials, including The Flipside at 408 E Second Street, Clayton Steakhouse at 307 E Main Street, Mulberry on Main Italian Restaurant at 217 E Main Street, Festejos Mexican Grill at 905 E Main Street and Lucky Chicken Peruvian Restaurant at 226 E Main Street.
Sponsors of the 2011 Concert Series are the Town of Clayton, Clayton Steakhouse, Hometowne Realty, The Flipside Restaurant, Clayton News-Star and Joe Mama’s Mobile Stages.
