Ron Freeman is "Police Officer of the Year"

Officer Ron Freeman, a member of the Police Department's Community Action Team, has been named "Clayton Police Officer of the Year."

The seven-year veteran of the Force, who came to Clayton after four years with the Johnston County Sheriff's Department, will represent Clayton Police in various law enforcement recognition and appreciation events over the next year.

"His selection is based in part upon his work planning and executing the National Night Out which was a great success," said Chief Glen Allen. "Officer Freeman also worked enthusiastically to help initiate the Clayton Crime Stoppers program and assisted the local chapter of the FOP in providing needy school children with backpacks and school supplies.  The commitment that Officer Freeman has shown to the community and the quality work of this 11-year veteran officer has earned him the police department’s recognition."

Freeman received his Basic Law Enforcement Training at Wayne Community College. He has served over the years as a member of the Department's Patrol and Special Operations Divisions.
