Quilts, Watercolors, Acrylics at Clayton Center

Want to see some great quilts, some beautiful watercolors or some wonderful paintings? Just drop by the Clayton Center during October!

The work of three area artists--- award-winning Quilter Gina Ross of Smithfield, children's book author and illustrator Lynda Farrington Wilson of Clayton and acrylic artist ZbOROVAN of Apex--- is on display.

The quilts are intricate and beautiful. The watercolors will warm your heart, and many of the paintings are dark and mysterious.

Ross, who once quilted for Archangel Fabrics on the store’s Gammill longarm quilt machine, has won several prizes for her quilts, including two at the NC State Fair.

Wilson, who moved to Clayton three years ago with her husband and sons, has 25 years of experience in communications, including fine arts, design and writing. She recently took a different professional direction, becoming a children’s book author and illustrator. Her first book was Squirmy-Wormy, How I Learned to Help Myself. A second book on autism, Autistic Schmautistic, I Don’t Need Any Labels at All!, is slated to be published in 2012. She has also illustrated books by other authors. You can view some of her work on her website at www.lyndafarringtonwilson.com.

ZbOROVAN has lived much of his life “on the road.” Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, he has lived in New Jersey, Tennessee, Georgia, California, Illinois and Michigan before coming to North Carolina. He sold his first work in 1972 for $200 at a Greenwich Village street exhibition and immediately decided that painting was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. His artist’s statement reflects that--Depingo, ergo sum-- “I paint, therefore I am.”

The work of the three will be on display all month.
