Student Art on Display This Month
Several dozen art students from Clayton High School are displaying their work this month at the Clayton Center.
The students, in grades 10-12, used a variety of media, from acrylics and watercolor to colored pencil, ink, oil, pastels, graphics, paper mosaic and mixed media. The subject matter includes self-portraits, abstracts, graphic design architectural painting, radial designs and illuminated letters.
They are the students of Art Teachers Jane Roberts and Crystal Seagroves.
Several students worked this year with Photographer Sue Mitchner, who helped them do self-portraits and provided photographs of local scenes for subject matter.
"These works will be a highlight of the show for townspeople," said June Lioret of Clayton Visual Arts, the show's sponsor.
Some of the students have already exhibited their work in other shows, including the Woman's Club arts and crafts exhibit in January and last year's school art show.
