New Conference Center Coordinator Named
Martha Vandergriff, formerly of the NC Dept. of Commerce, has joined the Clayton Center Auditorium and Conference Center staff as the new Conference Center Coordinator.
She will work with Clayton Center Executive Director Heidi Stump to market the Conference Center, becoming the primary contact with potential clients.
"I am delighted Martha has decided to join our staff," Stump said. "I am impressed with her experience and expertise."
At the Dept. of Commerce, Vandergriff worked with the Workforce Development Training Center. She has a degree in business from NC State University and an advanced degree in Public Administration.
"I've been impressed with the Conference Center staff, and I'm really excited to get started," Vandergriff said.
The onetime Clayton High School teacher took over her new position last week.
At the Conference Center, Vandergriff will serve two major roles:
• Marketing: Actively market the Conference Center to potential clients and respond to all client inquiries regarding rental space and availability
• Conference Center Rental: Primary contact with corporate and civic communities; work with clients to determine their rental needs; act as a booking agent; facilitate set-up requirements with staff and other Town Departments; compile rental data and statistics.
She replaces Pam McLamb who left the position earlier this year.
The Clayton Center's conference center features more than 12,000 square feet of versatile meeting space providing businesses, civic groups, religious organizations and individuals a unique site for meetings and special events. The Center averages over 3 events per day. Rental income generated from the conference center supports The Clayton Center's professional season programming.
