Young Girls Win Police "Civilian Citation Award"
Two young Clayton girls have been presented with the Clayton Police Department's "Civilian Citation Award" for their part in stopping a burglary at their home and bringing the suspects to justice.
Detective Rob Moyer, who presented the award, said both 9-year-old Alexis Baker and 13-year-old Kristen Howard, who were home alone during the ordeal, acted with "courage and calmness."
"Both of those girls kept cool heads during a very scary situation," added Police Chief Glen Allen. "They deserve a lot of respect and praise for their actions."
The girls were alone at home recently when they heard a suspicious noise and saw two men attempting to break in through a back window. They quickly called 911 for emergency help, then stayed on the phone--giving police detailed descriptions and updates on the suspect's progress--until police arrived.
Both suspects were captured and charged with Attempted Breaking & Entering and Possession of Burglary Tools.
