Wrought Iron Gates Add to Downtown

Downtown Clayton just got a little more attractive, and perhaps a little safer feeling, too.

The town has installed beautiful custom wrought iron gates in three alleyways downtown to offer a better sense of safety to passersby. The gates are the handiwork of downtown's All American Iron Works, owned by Darrel Gawthorpe.

“Little details like adding these gates to fill in a void, that was unattractive and created a lesser feeling of security, can make a big difference in the overall perception of Downtown," said Town Manager Steve Biggs. "I am glad when we can partner with the private building and business owners to do these small, but meaningful projects.”

The gates were fabricated to match the Gateway sign that was installed at Main Street and US 70 Business last year, also made by Gawthorpe.
