Winter Fitness Classes Include Yoga

The Parks & Recreation Department has a series of new fitness classes beginning this winter at the new Clayton Community Center on Amelia Church Road, including Yoga.

The classes are open to both residents and non-residents, and Community Center membership discounts apply. Registration is being handled at the Community Center.

"This is a great way to get in shap for the new year," said Program Coordintor Matt Lorion. "These classes can help you take away that holiday weight."

The new Yoga class begins Jan. 19 on Wednesdays from 9:45 to 10:45 am. The cost is $20 for residents and Community Center Members and $35 for non-residents. The instructor is Donna Granger.

Additional Yoga classes begin March 9, April 27 and June 15.

MOM BOOTCAMP
Need to lose weight and get your body in shape? Burn fat and calories through interval training with cardio drills and resistance training, and using your own body weight. You will learn how to sculpt your arms, abs and legs.
• Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30
• Jan. 11 for 8 weeks

• Cost: $70 for residents and $85 for non-residents

BELLY DANCE
Belly Dance exercising helps in three areas: physical, mental and social.
Physically become more flexible, gain better balance, and tune up the body/mind connection.
Mentally become more acute by memorizing dance steps, coming to understand instruction
and learning new terminology, history and culture. Expand your social horizons by meeting people outside your usual social group. Have so much fun you won't know you're exercising while learning the tantalizing secrets of the Orient.  Learn about the costumes, music, makeup and jewelry used to enhance the dance

SCULPT
This class will use weights and other resistance equipment to build endurance and strengthen all the muscles in the body.  This is a great addition to your aerobic workout.

STEP & SCULPT
This class is for the new stepper or someone who has been away from step awhile and wants a refresher course.  We get your heart pumpin' and cover all the basics. You will be up & down & all around the bench steppin' to awesome music.  Toning segments are included for sculpting muscle and we work those ABS too!!

FUSION
Yoga/Pilates complement one another beautifully in this class appropriate for the new student or those who would like to integrate prior experience. 
Movements are designed to strengthen the core, increase flexibility, improve balance and relieve stress.  Please bring your own mat.

PILATES
Pilates classic mat exercises focus on
strengthening the abdominal core,
improving posture and lengthening
for better flexibility and helps relieve
stress. This is a non-impact workout
for everyone regardless of age or
abilities. Modifications will be given
for inflexible people.

BODY SCULPTING

TEEN HIP HOP DANCE
This six week class teaches rhythm,
musicality, coordination, and age

choreography. This is a high energy,
fast, and fun dance class that requires
no previous dance experience. Please

MIXED AGE LINE DANCING
Line dancing provides great exercise
for the body and the mind! Bring your
friends and make some new ones as
we get comfortable with basic steps
while dancing to a variety of music
styles. Pop, R&B, Country, Latin, Celtic,
Jazz Standards...it's all fair game in the
line dance world. No partner and no
experience required. Please bring a
pair of shoes with clean, smooth soles
to change into so we can help
maintain the look of the wood floors.

This is a year-round Korean martial arts
