Town Election Coming Up Tuesday, Nov. 8
Clayton residents will fill the Mayor's seat and two Town Council seats in the general election coming up Tuesday, Nov. 8
Councilmen R.S. "Butch" Lawter Jr. and Alex Harding, whose terms are expiring, are being challenged by Jason Thompson.
Mayor Jody McLeod, who has served since 2003 following four years as a Councilman, is running unopposed for another term of office.
Harding first won election in 2003, and Lawter Jr. took office in 2009 for his second stint on the Council. He previously served from 1999 to 2003.
Since Council members serve staggered terms, incumbent Councilmen Art Holder, Bob Satterfield and Michael Grannis have two years remaining on their term of office. Their seats will be filled in the 2013 election.
