Want to learn to dance? Now's your chance.
The Parks & Recreation department is offering dance classes for teens and older at the new Clayton Community Center this fall and winter, including line dance classes for seniors over 55 years of age.
Here's a look at what's available:
SENIOR LINE DANCING WITH WALTER
Line dancing provides great exercise for the body and the mind! Bring your friends and make some new ones as we get comfortable with basic steps while dancing to a variety of music styles. Pop, R&B, Country, Latin, Celtic, Jazz Standards...it's all fair game in the line dance world. No partner and no experience required. Please bring a pair of shoes with clean, smooth soles to change into so we can help maintain the look of the wood floors.
• Tuesdays and Fridays at 4:30-5:30 pm, classes beginning Jan. 11
• Ages 55+
• $30/resident/six week class, $45/non-resident/six week class
• Instructor - Walter Tallman
TEEN HIP HOP DANCE
This six week class teaches rhythm, musicality, coordination, and age appropriate hip hop technique/choreography. This is a high energy, fast, and fun dance class that requires no previous dance experience. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.
• Thursdays - 4-5 pm with classes beginning Jan. 6
• Ages 13-17
• $20/resident/six week class, $35/non-resident/six week class

ZUMBA
ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music - dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system!. You'll Salsa, Merengue and Cumbia your way to better health. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for both the body and the mind. "Ditch the workout and join the party!"
• Thursdays - 6-6:50 pm, classes beginning Jan. 6 & Feb. 24
• Ages 18 & up
• $20/resident/six week class, $35/non-resident/six week class
