New School at Wellspring Community Church
The Clayton Town Council cleared the way Monday evening for a new private, faith-based school at Wellspring Community Church on Short Johnson Road.
The new school, to be called LifeSpring Academy, will accommodate students from kindergarden through 12th grade.
"LifeSpring Academy is a unique Christ-filled private school implementing a hands-on, student-centered approach to education," officials of the new school said in a presentation to the Council. "LifeSpring Academy is the result of a prayerful group of ordinary people called by God to offer all families another choice to educate their children."
Enrollment will be phased in over the next few years to give the new school time to fulfill all state and local requirements, including a Traffic Impact Analysis. The new school will start with a maximum of 35 students in its first phase of development, then move up to a maximum of 50 in the second phase, 80 in the third phase and cap enrollment at 120 students in the final phase.
The school, which makes use of already existing church facilities, will operate on a traditional school calendar, with a daily schedule of 9 am to 3:30 pm.
