Another Officer Honored by State Commission
Lieutenant John Owens, a 10-year veteran of the Clayton Police Force, has won an "Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate" from the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, the highest such honor awarded by the state.
The honor rewards advanced education, training and experience.
"We're very proud to announce this achievement," said Chief Glen Allen. "Lt. Owens has served our town well for a long time."
Lt. Owens, the supervisor of "B" Squad in the town's Patrol Division, is the 24th member of the 42-member Police Force to earn the honor.
The Commission’s Professional Certificate Program is designed to reward and recognize officers who continually strive to advance professionally through a variety of schools and training sessions, above and beyond what is required by the state.
