Clayton Police Seize Large Stash of Drugs

SECOND ARREST! Thanks to the continued help of the public and persistence of Clayton Detectives, the second oftwo alleged drug dealer was taken into custody Friday night. Jeremy Franklin Everidge was arrested without incident by the Clayton Police Department on July 12, 2013. Everidge was booked into the Johnston County Jail on numerous drug-related charges including: Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Schedule IV Substances, Maintaining a Dwell to Sale and or Deliver Controlled Substances, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Everidge is currently being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $750,500 bond.

ARREST!   Just hours after releasing information to the media on July 10th, Leah Danielle Scheib of 306 S. Smith St. Clayton, NC walked into the Clayton Police Department and turned herself in! 

She’s been placed into the Johnston County Jail under a $101,000.00 secured bond.

We continue to search for the second suspect Jeremy Franklin Everidge and asked for the public’s continued assistance or tips!

The Clayton Police Department needs your help finding a man and woman detectives believe were selling not only marijuana, but cocaine and crystal methamphetamine from two homes in downtown Clayton. 

The drugs were seized thanks to the expert help of Clayton's new K-9 team, Officer Justin Vause and his partner "Major."    The search warrants were executed on July 9, 2013 at 306 South Smith Street and 204 John Street in Clayton.  Drugs were only seized at 306 South Smith Street, no drugs were found at 204 John Street (it had been an address associated with one of the suspects previously).  

“We are very pleased to have removed this quantity of narcotics from our community,” said Clayton Police Chief R.W. Bridges.  “We’re also very concerned to see this much methamphetamine in our town and intend to stop this kind of trafficking well before it becomes a trend. ”

Officers seized:

  • More than 350 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine (crystal denotes the crystallized version of methamphetamine as opposed to the powder or pill form)
  • 32 grams of Powder Cocaine
  • More than 16 grams of marijuana
  • 12 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms
  • Assorted Prescription Pills
  • Drug Paraphernalia
  • $6,000 in cash


Clayton Police have obtained warrants for 27-year-old Leah Scheib and 34-year-old Jeremy Everidge.  They are each charged with:  

  • Trafficking Crystal Methamphetamine
  •  Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute  Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking Cocaine
  • Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Marijuana
  • 3 counts Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Schedule IV  (prescription drugs) 
  • 2 counts Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Schedule II   (cocaine) 
  • 7 counts Maintain Dwelling for Use, Storage, or Sale of Controlled Substances 
  • Drug Paraphernalia 

The warrants were obtained after Officer J. Vause pulled over Jeremy Everidge for a routine traffic stop earlier in the day and discovered information leading him and Clayton detectives to believe that Everidge had controlled substances at his home.
