Man Arrested in Attempted Robbery

A Middlesex man has been arrested for attempting to rob an employee of the Wendy’s on US 70 in Clayton this morning.
Around 1:30 a.m., the employee called 911 to report that a man jumped out from behind the dumpster area of the restaurant and tried to rob him. When the employee refused, the suspect ran away.
As Clayton police officers responded to the scene, they spotted the suspect in the parking lot of the Burger King across the street. As they approached the man, he became combative and threatened the officers several times. Officers were eventually able to take the man into custody. He was not armed with any weapons.
31-year-old Brian Douglas Robeson of 554-A Barnes Lake Road in Middlesex, has been charged with 1 felony count of Attempted Common Law Robbery, 1 misdemeanor count of Communicating Threats, and 1 misdemeanor count of resisting a police officer. He’s in the Johnston County Jail under a $32,000.00 secured bond.
