Town Boards and Committees Ready for 2010

Several Town Boards and Committees are getting new members this year, joining those who have agreed to serve another term.

Here's a quick rundown of some of the Boards:

• The 15-member Recreation Advisory Committee is getting four new members and four others have agreed to serve another term.

Joining the Committee are Angelo C. Owens, Clarence Johnston Jr., Telly Knight and Theodore J. Willer Jr.

Reappointed to another term are Alyson Teem, Frank DeVoid, H. Dean Penny and Karen Beatty-Phinazee.

• Three members of the 10-member Library Board had terms expiring at the end of the year and have been reappointed, joining new member Heather Hovanec Ford.

Reappointed area Belle B. Allen, Linda Shehdan Hester and Sybil Champion. Longterm member James Lawrence Williams, who has been unable to attend meetings regularly due to poor health, will serve as an "honorary" member.

All the terms expire in 2012.

• The four members of the 9-member Planning Board with terms expiring at the end of the year have been appointed to server another term.

Reappointed are Dana W. Pounds, George "Bucky" Coats, Sarah R. Brooks and Wilt Toudle.

• The 11-member Downtown Development Association Board is getting three new members, joining two members who will be serving another term.

Newcomers to the Board are Debbie C. Hammond, Debra Austermuehle and Margaret K. Lee.

Reappointed members are Betsy Grannis and Leslie Howard Hubbard.

The terms of office for all five will expire in 2012.
