Health Fair Officially Opens Medical Center

The long-awaited Johnston Medical Center-Clayton opened August 23 with a Health Fair and official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"This new medical complex, with its cutting-edge technology, fills an important need," said Mayor Jody McLeod. "Johnston Medical Center-Clayton is an important addition to the Clayton community."

The new $39 million Medical Center, located at 2138 US 42 West, will provide much needed health care to one of the state's fastest growing areas. It will include an emergency department, diagnostic imaging and lab services, and two operating rooms. On the same site, a three-story office building for doctors is also under construction.

Johnston Health, formerly Johnston County Memorial Hospital, has plans to expand Johnston Medical Center – Clayton into a full-service hospital over the next few years.
