Upcoming Fire Training Includes "Live Burn"
Residents living near the new hospital or those driving by on NC Highway 42 are likely to be smelling smoke on Oct. 3 when the Clayton Fire Department holds a "live burn" to give firefighters experience in putting out house fires.
"The team will go inside, find the fire and extinguish it," said Training/Safety Division Chief Jason Dean. "It's as realistic as you can get."
The live burn is part of the Department's ongoing training program.
A few days ago, the Department burned two barns in the area as part of a training exercise. That live burn helped with Water Supply Training and gave firefighters practice fighting night fires.
