Thank you for voting in the
2016-17 Clayton Sculpture Trail People's Choice Awards!
We will announce the winner 6 p.m. April 6
at the Clayton Visual Arts free artist reception at The Clayton Center.
After six weeks of voting, it's finally time to choose a champion in the final round of the 2016-17 Clayton Sculpture Trail People's Choice Award! Who will take home the prestigious title and that cool $1,000 prize? The choice is YOURS and the time is NOW!
For the Final match up, it's a choice between the abstract and the celestial versus the literal and the terrestrial.
Inspired by a moonlit sky on a cloudy night, Jordan Parah's "Fly Me To The Moon" is located outside Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library. Parrah lives in Greenville, where she maintains a studio and works at City Art Gallery and the Greenville Museum of Art. Her works are bold and bright, and they express an even larger message. "I seek to connect contrasting metal forms, shapes and colors to create a nexus between the sculpture and the fundamental principle, that all people are different yet all are equal," Parah said. "The amalgamation of disparate metals within each sculpture is designed to place emphasis on the strength and endurance needed to form and maintain a unified and equitable society."
Capturing another familiar natural sight, Cathy Perry's "Oasis" transports viewers from Horne Square to the banks of a pristine lake! Perry lives just east of Greenville in a little town near the Pamlico River called Chocowinity. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in sculpture from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in visual arts, sculpture and textiles from Western Kentucky University. She also has a degree in business administration from Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky.

We'll tally the votes for Week Six midnight Sunday, Feb. 26. We'll close the Finals voting midnight Sunday, March 5. We will announce the winner 6 p.m. April 6 at the Clayton Visual Arts free artist reception in The Clayton Center.
For the Finals, we're also extending the voting to Clayton's budding young artists! Ballots will be distributed to art classes at local elementary, middle and high schools.
Each year, the Town of Clayton Public Art Advisory Board helps bring to our Town new, unique sculptures created by artists from across the state and beyond. You'll find them all over Downtown Clayton, at the Clayton Community Center – and, new this year, at Spring Branch Medical Park on N.C. 42.
Now, it's time to vote! Who will be the People's Choice for our 2016-17 Sculpture Trail!? In this year's contest, our 11 sculptures will compete for seven weeks in a March Madness style showdown, each artist vying for the chance to take home the $1,000 prize! Scroll down to see the full bracket.
