Clayton Police Drug Crack Down Continues with Two Major Heroin Arrests

11/29/2017

Two significant heroin dealers are behind bars, one of them caught preparing the drug with a newborn baby in his home, as Clayton Police continue a months-long operation to curb drug activity in the Town of Clayton.

The Clayton Police Narcotics Unit seized 33 bags or “stamps” of heroin and a half ounce of marijuana from a home in the LionsGate community today. Detectives say 37-year-old Asa Michael Warf  was “cutting” heroin as they arrived to serve the warrant at 18 Tuscarora Ln. There was a newborn baby in the house, as well an elderly man with dementia.  Clayton Police had received several complaints about drug activity at this residence.

Warf is charged with: Possession with Intent to Sell & Distribute Heroin within 1,000 ft. of a daycare; Manufacturing Heroin within 1,000 ft. of a daycare and Possession with Intent to Sell & Distribute Marijuana within 1,000 ft. of a daycare. He’s being held on a $125,000 secured bond.

Hours later, in an unrelated bust, Clayton Police’s Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover operation and arrested 34-year-old Kenneth Brantley Crawford Jr. after he sold a “brick” of heroin, or what’s called 50 “stamps.”  He was pulled over and taken into custody without incident shortly after making the drug deal.

Crawford is charged with 4 felonies: Possession of Heroin with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin; Selling Heroin; Delivering Heroin: and Possessing Heroin. He’s being held in the Johnston County jail on a $100,000 secured bond. Mr. Crawford received a $100,000 dollar secured bond from the Johnston County Magistrate.

These arrests are the result of a continued crack down on drug activity in the Town of Clayton that began with Operation Hailstorm in October. That operation has now netted 26 arrests out of 27 suspected drug dealers. Information gathered from those earlier busts helped lead to both of today’s major arrests.
