Community Center Set to Open in Spring
Despite some minor delays caused by materials shortages and a well-publicized instance of vandalism, the new Community Center complex on Amelia Church Road is on schedule to open this Spring as planned.
The current schedule sets the opening for early May.
"It's exciting, watching the Center take shape," said Mayor Jody McLeod. "Clayton has waited a long time for a Center like this, and it feels good seeing it come along."
The 30,000-sq.-ft., six million dollar Community Center at 715 Amelia Church Road will have classrooms for a variety of classes, a childcare center, an indoor elevated walking track, a gymnasium and a lighted outdoor patio suitable for events and receptions. It will also be the new home of the Parks & Recreation Department.
