Update on Community Center Project

Workers should be giving the public something to look at soon as structural steel begins going up and the parking lot gets its first layer of asphalt at the new Community Center under construction on Amelia Church Road.

The 30,000-sq.-ft. complex will have classrooms for a variety of classes, a childcare center, and a gymnasium and lighted outdoor patio suitable for events and receptions. It will also be the new home of the Parks & Recreation Department.

o Approximate cost is $5.6 million
o Expected to be completed next Spring
o Includes a small pond needed for flood control
